MagnaDesk Terms of Service
1. Agreement
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of MagnaDesk, a desktop application for Windows published by Catio Productions ("we", "us", "our"). By installing or using MagnaDesk, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the application.
These Terms incorporate the MagnaDesk Privacy Policy by reference. The Privacy Policy describes what data MagnaDesk handles and where it is stored.
2. License Grant
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use MagnaDesk on devices you own or control. You may use MagnaDesk for personal or commercial purposes.
This is a license, not a sale. Catio Productions retains all right, title, and interest in MagnaDesk, including its code, design, name, and artwork.
3. Pricing, Trial, and the Limited State
MagnaDesk is free to download. Every feature is unlocked for the first 30 days after installation. After the trial period ends, MagnaDesk continues to run in a Limited state unless you purchase the one-time unlock through the Microsoft Store.
The unlock costs $14.99 USD. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. There is no recurring charge and nothing to cancel. Prices are set in the Microsoft Store and may change; a change in price does not affect an unlock you have already purchased.
In the Limited state, your existing boards and content remain accessible and MagnaDesk keeps working. The following are restricted until the unlock is purchased:
- Quick Paste
- Quick Note Edit
- The Radar widget
- The 11 widget color themes
- Independent per-monitor wallpaper folders (the "control each monitor separately" toggle)
- More than one connected account
- Creating new boards
We may change which features are included in the Limited state in future versions. If a feature you have already paid to unlock is affected, we will not remove your access to it.
4. Purchases, Billing, and Refunds
MagnaDesk is sold through the Microsoft Store. Catio Productions does not process payments, does not receive or store your payment details, and cannot issue refunds directly.
All purchases, billing, payment methods, and refund requests are governed by the Microsoft Store Terms of Sale and Microsoft's refund policy. Refund requests must be made to Microsoft through your Microsoft account order history.
If a purchase does not unlock correctly in MagnaDesk, contact us at the address in Section 13 and we will help you troubleshoot it.
5. Your Content
Everything you put on a MagnaDesk board — sticky notes, drawings, images, documents, layouts, and settings — is yours. Catio Productions claims no ownership of it and does not receive a copy of it. As described in the Privacy Policy, your content is stored locally in %AppData%\MagnaDesk\ on your own computer.
Because your content lives only on your machine, you are responsible for backing it up. Uninstalling MagnaDesk, resetting Windows, or losing the device will remove that data, and we have no way to restore it for you.
You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to use any images, documents, or other material you add to a board.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble MagnaDesk, except where that restriction is prohibited by applicable law.
- Circumvent, disable, or tamper with licensing, the trial period, or the Limited state.
- Redistribute, resell, sublicense, rent, or lease MagnaDesk, or distribute modified copies of it.
- Use MagnaDesk to store or display material that is unlawful, or in any way that violates applicable law.
- Use MagnaDesk in a manner that interferes with the accounts, services, or terms of Microsoft, Google, or any other third-party service connected through the application.
7. Connected Accounts
MagnaDesk widgets can connect to a Microsoft 365 account to display your own mail, calendar, tasks, and notes on your desktop canvas. All access is read-only and is initiated by you through the standard OAuth sign-in flow operated by the provider.
Google account integration (Calendar and Tasks) is not currently available. It is switched off pending Google's review of the requested permissions and is labeled "coming soon" in the application. Nothing in these Terms grants you the right to use a feature that has not shipped.
Your use of a connected account remains subject to that provider's own terms of service. Catio Productions is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content of data returned by a third-party provider, and a provider may change or revoke API access at any time, which can disable the corresponding widget. You may disconnect an account at any time in MagnaDesk Settings, or revoke access directly with the provider.
8. Third-Party Services and Content
MagnaDesk uses the following third-party services. They are provided by their respective operators under their own terms, and we do not control them:

Weather and radar information is provided for general interest only. It is not a forecasting or emergency service, may be delayed or inaccurate, and must not be relied on for safety decisions. Consult your national weather service for severe weather.
The Sources tab in the Wallpaper panel is a static help screen containing hyperlinks to free wallpaper websites (Unsplash, Pexels, Wallhaven). MagnaDesk does not search, index, or download images from those sites. Clicking a link opens the site in your browser, and anything you do there — including the licensing of any image you download — is between you and that site.
9. Updates and Availability
MagnaDesk is distributed through the Microsoft Store, and updates are delivered by the Store according to your Windows update settings. We may add, change, or remove features in an update. We may also stop distributing or supporting MagnaDesk. If we do, an already-installed copy will keep working for as long as it remains compatible with your version of Windows, but we cannot guarantee continued functionality of features that depend on third-party services.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
MagnaDesk is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that MagnaDesk will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every hardware and software configuration, or that any defect will be corrected.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits any statutory consumer rights you have that cannot be waived under the law of your country of residence.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Catio Productions will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or business, arising out of or relating to your use of or inability to use MagnaDesk — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to MagnaDesk or these Terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you actually paid for MagnaDesk in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) $25 USD.
12. Termination
These Terms apply for as long as you use MagnaDesk. You may end them at any time by uninstalling the application. We may terminate this license if you materially breach these Terms, in particular Section 6. On termination, you must stop using MagnaDesk and uninstall it. Sections 5, 10, 11, and 13 survive termination.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms. When we do, we will revise the date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will additionally surface a notice within MagnaDesk on next launch. Continued use of MagnaDesk after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. This does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer-protection laws of the country in which you reside.
